Michiganders chose safer, stronger futures at the polls this November. Abdul El-Sayed has officially been elected the next U.S. Senator representing Michigan. In response to this victory, Serious About Safety PAC board member Ellen Flenniken released the following statement:
“Despite facing $43 million in ads attacking Abdul El-Sayed as ‘soft on crime’ and too dangerous to lead Michigan, voters rejected crime scare tactics and elected a senator who ran on a strong public safety platform,” said Flenniken. “El-Sayed didn’t succumb to the fearmongering attacks and instead held his own and emphasized real solutions that make communities safer: supporting police while holding them accountable and making investments in affordable housing, mental health and addiction treatment, and community violence intervention. Michiganders need a leader in the Senate who understands comprehensive public safety. El-Sayed will be that senator and fight for safer futures every day. We look forward to supporting Senator-elect El-Sayed as he delivers on the promise of safety and justice for all Michiganders.”
Abdul El-Sayed was one of two candidates SASPAC supported this cycle; David Crowley in Wisconsin was the other. SASPAC ran the following ad in markets across Michigan ahead of election day.
